Observation Narrative
Plot on slope of small, dry ravine. Forest dominated by medium- to large-diameter chestnut oaks, with an understory rich in ericaceous species. Shrub layer formerly dominated by tall mountain-laurel, which was drastically reduced in height and cover by the Forest Service prescribed burn in March, 2008. Shrub layer now predominantly deciduous and dominated by coppice sprouts of various species.
